His military experience has provided him with a valuable perspective of the unique barriers that many in the Veteran community encounter. Mr. McGrath is a 30-year United States Army Veteran where he served in various command and staff positions. He retired as a Colonel and received numerous awards and decorations including those for two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thomas J. McGrath, aka ‘Tom’, was the former Deputy Director, Government Contracting Business Development at the Small Business Administration (SBA). He was responsible for certification of women owned and economically disadvantaged women owned small businesses to compete for contracting opportunities under the set-aside acquisition programs. And before SBA, Tom was the former Director of the Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Small Business Office. He was responsible for accurate and timely verifications for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses under the Veterans First Verification Program. Mr. McGrath hails from South Boston, MA and holds a Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University.
